E License Course Set for East End Community Center

The National E course is a 16-18-hour course which covers the elementary principles of coaching and prepares interested coaches for the National D course. The course consists of a series of lectures and field sessions, and attendance is mandatory for the full duration of all course meetings.  PAYSA will be hosting an E License course in Portland on June 7, 14, 21 & 28 at East End Community Center.

Eligibility

The National E course is open to all applicants who hold a U.S. Soccer National F license and who are at least 16 years of age.

Initial Assignments

All course work for the National E course will be completed in the Digital Coaching Center (DCC). Before the first course meeting, all candidates must complete the following assignments:

  • Team Management
  • Laws of the Game
  • Prevention and Care / Concussion Awareness

Target Outcomes

  • Develop the core coaching competencies necessary to effectively teach the 9-12 year old athlete and team.
  • Understand the characteristics and needs of an athlete in the Basic Stage of U.S. Soccer’s Long Term Athlete Development Model.
  • Demonstrate competency in planning an age-appropriate training session.
  • Understand concepts and recognize the principles of attacking and defending in a small-sided game environment.

Volunteers Needed – Age Group Coordinators!

For those interested in program leadership targeting our recreation participants, the Age Group Coordinator role is perfect for you! Organize, recruit and communication with a team of coaches that will provide many kids’ first exposure to soccer, and coordinate Fall PAYSA activities including scheduling, uniforms, bags and participation… a truly gratifying volunteer experience!  Contact us if interested!

Spring Skills Program 2017

This program is for children ages 5-10 years old. It will start April 29th and run for 6 weeks at Dougherty Field on Douglass Street. We will not hold sessions on Memorial Day, and will have a rain date of June 17th. The program will be 1 hour long and will work on soccer skills with a 15-20 minute scrimmage at the end of the hour. The program will be coordinated by PAYSA and conducted by Seacoast United Maine.

Engage in the community as PAYSA’s charitable presence and work with the board to develop PAYSA long-term development program! The Director – Scholarships & Development shall be responsible for driving our scholarship program and long range planning and development of PAYSA.
